Foreign trade in February 2021: increase in imports (+3.7%) and exports (+3.1%)

Vienna, 2021-05-06 – The value of imports of goods was at €12.89 bn in February 2021, an increase of 3.7% compared to February 2020, as Statistics Austria reports. At the same time, exports of goods rose by 3.1% to €12.57 bn. The balance of trade thus showed a deficit of €0.32 bn. Working-day adjusted, the rates of increase were 4.7% for imports and 3.6% for exports.

The four most important product groups for Austrian foreign trade are machinery and transport equipment, manufactured goods, chemicals and related products and miscellaneous manufactured articles. In common they showed an import growth of 4.3% to €10.22 bn and their exports rose by 3.1% to €10.70 bn.
