Vienna, 2021-10-06 – The value of imports of goods was at €14.56 bn in July 2021, an increase of 18.3% compared to July 2020, according to preliminary results by Statistics Austria. At the same time, exports of goods rose by 10.4% to €14.09 bn. The balance of trade thus showed a deficit of €0.47 bn. Working-day adjusted, the rates of increase were 22.8% for imports and 14.2% for exports.

The four most important product groups for international trade in goods are machinery and transport equipment, manufactured goods, chemicals and related products and miscellaneous manufactured articles. Aggregated they showed an import growth of 12.6% to €11.39 bn and their exports rose by 8.5% to €11.79 bn. The highest absolute growth in exports was recorded with manufactured goods (+22.5%), followed by machinery and transport equipment (+3.7%).
