Industry and construction

The European Community’s harmonisation objectives and the gradual economic and political integration process are continually posing new demands in terms of economic observations. The result is an urgent need for statistical data that enables both a detailed structural analysis and the monitoring of economic development. By calculating harmonised and comparable indicators, the results contribute, for example, to a better understanding of economic performance and of the competitive strength of Austrian enterprises within the European Union.

“Industry and construction” comprises the economic branches Mining and quarrying (Section C of ÖNACE 2003), Manufacturing (Section D of ÖNACE 2003), Electricity, gas and water supply (Section E of ÖNACE 2003) and Construction (Section F of ÖNACE 2003) or the economic branches Mining and quarrying (Section B of ÖNACE 2008), Manufacturing (Section C of ÖNACE 2008), Electricity, gas, stream and air conditioning supply (Section D of ÖNACE 2008), Water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (Section E of ÖNACE 2008) and Construction (Section of ÖNACE 2008).
