Number of deaths fluctuates since mid-May

Vienna, 2021-06-24 – According to preliminary results by Statistics Austria, 1 532 people died in Austria in calendar week 23 (from 7 to 13 June 2021), which is 7.7% above the five-year average (2016–2020) for calendar week 23. The number of deaths has been fluctuating since mid-May. In calendar week 22, 67 more people died, but in calendar week 21 55 fewer than in calendar week 23. In calendar week 20, the number of deaths was similar to calendar week 23 (1 517).
