Passenger car one-day registrations increased by one fourth in 1st half of 2021; still well below 2019 level


5 499 passenger cars were deregistered after a registration period of one day in the first half of 2021. Compared to the first six months of the previous year, when 4 431 passenger cars were registered for one day, registrations increased by 24.1%. In the first half of 2021 one day registrations accounted for 4.1% of all new passenger car registrations (first half of 2020: 3.9%). Compared to the pre-crisis period in 2019, when 7 312 cars were registered for one day, the decrease amounted to 24.8%.


Number of under three year olds in day-care centres increased by 77.0% within ten years


In the kindergarten year 2020/21, a total of 70 750 children under three years of age attended a childcare facility. In a ten-year comparison, this corresponds to an increase of 77.0% (+30 769 children). Every fourth child (27.6%) under three years of age was already in day-care, in the kindergarten year 2010/11 it was only every sixth child. Increases in the childcare rate were observed in all federal provinces. An alltime high was reported for the age group of three- to five-year-olds with 246 877 children enrolled in kindergarten, compared to 2010/11 this is an increase of 12.6% (+27 5890 children).


Inflation remains at 2.8% in June 2021 (HICP: 2.8%)


In June 2021, the inflation rate was 2.8% (May 2021: 2.8%). Expenditures for transport (+6,6% compared to June 2020) proved to be the most important price driver, followed by expenditures for housing, water and energy (+3.0%). The consumer price index (CPI 2020) was at 102.6, while the average price level increased by 0.5% compared to May 2021.
